Welcome to the second installment of “The Look, Live, and Be of The Season!” This is where I share the beauty, lifestyle, and personal growth trends of the fall and winter.
Every new season offers new insight, things to wear, do, and see. As we are moving through fall and into the winter, there is a clear common theme that I have identified within L.L.B and that is “reconnecting with nature."
Here are 2022’s beauty, lifestyle, and personal growth Fall/Winter trends you’ll want to try:
the LOOK: bold, bright, playful & a hint of dark/punk
Makeup
There are 2 sides to the looks that are happening this season. On the internet, we are seeing makeup lovers get bold, playful, and fun with eye looks featuring gems, pearls, unique liner designs, and bright colors.
On the other hand, we are seeing the opposite with the everyday person – the soft glam and “clean girl” look. This features little to no eye makeup, glossy brown lips, and blushed up cheeks.
Fashion
There is no surprise that fashion is darkening up in its style and color with the classic browns, blacks, and neutrals.
But we’re also seeing lots more color this season – more than I remember seeing in past years and I am loving it! There are brighter shades of colors like green, pink, blue, red being worn, but don’t just take my word for it. Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, said this palette “reflect[s] the natural environment around us inspires our creative energies and awakens a desire for a whole new perspective…prompting us to revisit our idea of the legacy of the past and strengthen our connection with nature.”
In my opinion, thee color of this fall season is olive green and for the winter season is cobalt blue!
We are seeing colors like yellow, orange & red be paired with black while colors like
fuchsia and emerald green are being put together in sexy, playful looks.
the LIVE - the strive to be sustainable
The pandemic showed us how our health and well-being must come first and foremost. We were forced to take a look at our lives and reflect on where we’re at and where we want to be. To bridge that gap, some of us are taking more control of our lives by adopting healthy daily practices like spending more time in nature. We are realizing how important nature is to our well-being.
According to Dune Ives, CEO of Lonely Whale, and his team, “nature is an emerging trend in 2020 that I believe will only continue to grow exponentially in 2022 as we look for solace, serenity and answers to a better future.” 1
“2022 will bring forth greater awareness of the importance of nature in our daily lives.”
& I agree.
We are spending more time in nature and doing what we can to keep her healthy:

In home design, we are noticing the desire to be surrounded by more natural, imperfect elements and shapes in our homes. From indoor/outdoor living designs to more plants and things like branches for centerpieces.
In home organizing, the popularity of reusable containers is undeniable.
& reselling has boomed. In recent years, even brands like Pretty Little Thing (PLT) launching a resale marketplace. 2
I, myself have began reselling. It is a way for me to live more sustainably and have an extra source of income. I sell pre-loved fashion and home decor through Poshmark and eBay. Instead of a quality piece of clothing sitting in a landfill or in the “to rack” pile at Goodwill, I am able to give someone a classic piece they’ll enjoy and love.
the Be: self-awareness + action
As our awareness of mental health and its effect on our overall well-being improved, mental health resources are now at our fingertips. Apps like “better help” have increased their advertising and the amount of IG infographic accounts that address ways to improve mental health has grown. Here is the evidence:
According to Medium, in 2020 BetterHelp “spent more on advertisements than any other advertiser.” They were expected to “spend $15 billion” by this year (2022).
This year, BetterHelp actually spent “$19.8 million in just this time period, accounting for almost half of their entire ad spend dollars so far in 2022,” according to pathematics.com
Implementing knowledge gained from educational resources into our daily lives raises self-awareness and strengthens our mental health, which initiates personal growth
Personal growth for this fall and winter season is all about identifying your blind spots and understanding how you can improve your self-awareness. Reflect on how you show up in the world and the people/things that surround you. Once you are aware, it’s time to take action. Maybe things have to change. Could you be blocking blessings with a bad habit you’ve picked up? Are the people around you helping or hurting you?
Take the season to mentally hibernate. Reflect, then take action so you can find yourself closer to the headspace and life you want in spring 2023.
The LLB Of the Fall & Winter Season is “Reconnecting with Nature.” Tune in around march 2023 for the 3rd installment of the “The Look, Live, and Be of the Season: Spring & Summer Edition”
